Seashore Specimens (iii). 'I found so many fascinating specimens as I walked along the beach in the sunshine.'
This is an original one-off assemblage, in a hand painted wooden box-frame.
Clara has delicately layered her collection of beachcombing finds over a sea-green hand-marbled paper panel. In the lined tin-lid is a painted handmade paper ammonite-bed which I created using cotton linters pulp. She has been very successful this week, and has a great many treasures to display, including interesting seashells, pebbles, seaweed, and even fossilised shark teeth, (still sharp!). In the lower corner of Clara's annotation panel is a white antique shoe button set in a swirl of amber-coloured vintage embroidery silk. The dried seed head at the top of the marbled panel is a bit of a mystery: I don't know what it is, but I love its rich brown colour and its curled shape...
